I’ve always been a maker. In the summer as a kid, my mom would send me out with a brush and a bucket of water to “paint” the sidewalk in which I could be absorbed for hours. In high school, a a great art teacher sparked my love for drawing, which led to a BFA in Graphic Design. But it was a undergraduate HTML/CSS course—coinciding with the launch of the first iPhone—that instilled a passion for software as a medium. For the past 15 years, I’ve been building digital products at early-stage startups—using design to make complex things simple and nudge the world in a positive direction.
Outside of work I pursue interests that combine teamwork, craft, and technology. Today you can find me:
Denny is a superb design thinker, leader, and builder. He has deep empathy and patience, an exceptional eye for both quality as well as what actually matters in great products and experiences. To top it off he's also a delight to work with as a colleague.
Denny is an engineering team's dream. He possesses a comprehensive understanding of best practices and design languages across platforms, and understands how to apply those principles creatively. Denny's also a fantastic communicator and team player, and always has a crystal clear vision for clean, aesthetically pleasing, and functional design.
I’ve had the chance to work with Denny at two companies and in both, he stood out—making the team, and me, better. He drove vision and craft when it was needed most, built a strong, thoughtful design culture, and led with clarity and high-impact execution.
Denny is an excellent designer whose keen eye and creative perspective is always in high-demand. He approaches his work and life with a curiosity and warmth that is an invaluable addition to any team.
Denny is an insights/abstraction wizard. His ability to take a complex set of ideas and distill them is amazing.
Denny is a talented design leader who really understands marketing and business needs—and has a rare gift for managing stakeholders and keeping teams aligned.
While Denny’s incredible abilities offer him unlimited opportunities, he is driven to seek those that allow him to use his talents to make the world a better place. His work ethic, expertise and humble leadership style is unmatched.
There is one quote that stood out from Denny’s peer feedback: “Denny is exactly the person that you want as your manager”
Denny is very technical, and can easily pick up complex algorithmic or structural concepts. This is been especially helpful when engineers run into issues during the build phase, as Denny can clearly understand the problem and collaborate on a resolution. Denny is a strong communicator, both in documentation and presentations. Has made huge contributions to the success of Galileo and the organization simply would not be the same without him.
Denny is great at distilling complex workflows or features into a simplified, easy to understand user experience. Every design review he comes fully armed with the context and clarity we need. He has a talent for bringing tough conversations back to reality, and a fortitude that gets us to the next level. I feel lucky to have Denny on our team!
